EXPLORE - The Little Blue Lake, TAS

The Little Blue Lake is just that, a little lake that's blue.

But not your average, run of the mill blue. No, we’re talking a vibrant, so-vivid-it-could-be-fake aqua blue. And it is stunning with a capital S.

The lake itself is actually an old mining hole that has been filled with water, and the residual minerals result in it’s beautiful turquoise shade. Located approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes North-East from Launceston, The Little Blue lake is a great quick (but memorable) stop on the way to the Bay of Fires.

There isn't much signage for it, so keep an eye out as you approach the area.

Although there aren't really any official walking tracks here, we spent about an hour or so just wandering around the lake. There were a few other people here when we arrived including some locals who decided to go for a dip - despite the several signs advising against swimming, due to the high levels of minerals in the water.

Hells, more power to them. As for us, we were happy to just have a chill and a wander.

Some helpful info in regards to parking:

There's a main gravel/dirt carpark just meters from Gladstone Road (B82) with plenty of room and a great view of the lake, there's also another smaller gravel/dirt carpark around the south-west side of the lake, but the track to get there had some pretty severe potholes and mud puddles, so we just parked at the main carpark.
