VAN FEATURES - Plants
We love our plant babies!
A home isn’t a home without a decent dose of greenery, and we’ll admit we spent an embarrassingly long time picking which plants we’d adopt. We chose them based off their alleged difficulty-to-kill (we’re open-and-out past plant killers), suitability to lower light conditions and air-purifying abilities (bye bye nasty air-borne pollutants).
Hopefully we can add a few more additions as time goes on…
Meet the Family:
CRUELLA- a Devils Ivy* and our first plant addition.
PHIL- a Heart Leaf Philodendron*
PIPPIN- another Devils Ivy (the scientific name for Devils Ivy is EPIPremnum aureum, plus Bec is a Lord Of The Rings fan, hence the name)
SALVATORE – A Birds Nest Fern.
Plant Care
These plants seem to thrive off neglect, which suits us just fine. Our plant-babies live in pots with drainage holes with fairly loose soil. About once every 7-9 days we’ll put them all outside in indirect light, give them a good water and a spray of the old Seasol. And that’s it.
*Note for pet-owners: These are known to toxic to cats and dogs, (a drawback to being extra air-purifying) so if your pets tend to chew plants, these are not a good choice. Soz folks.
2019 Update:
Since getting back on the road after a few months of work in Victoria we’ve made the decision to leave our plant-babies with family due to differing state-to-state bio security laws. Australian states like South Australia, Tasmania and Western Australia have (for some time now) prohibited the transportation of plant matter and soil across state lines. So we’ve decided to replace our living plants with good quality fake plants. Again we spent an embarrassingly long time to looking for the right fake plants.
